ALVORADA is a documentary about Brazil and the formative influence industrial and societal upheavals have had on its history. This portrait of the fifth-largest country in the world surveys its people, landscapes, and modern metropolises, as well its arts and culture. But the primary focus is on structural changes, beginning in earnest in 1956 with preparations to move the capital to the new purpose-built city of Brasilia. Seen from the perspective of European eyes, the film’s cornucopia of impressions paints a picture of a multi-cultural, diverse nation.
